Zariah
About Her
Zariah is a Los Angeles–based R&B artist originally from Alameda, California, blending the warmth of ’90s neo-soul with a modern pop sensibility. Rooted in rich vocals, groove-forward production, and emotional storytelling, her music feels both nostalgic and fresh—inviting listeners to move, reflect, and feel empowered all at once.
A performer at heart, Zariah’s artistic journey began early. She has been on stage since the age of six, first as a dancer—training in West African dance with Oakland-based company African Queens—before transitioning into musical theatre in high school, where she sang and performed almost daily. Her curiosity for songwriting and sound took shape in college, when she found herself wanting to break down every element of the music she loved. That curiosity sparked the realization that she didn’t just want to perform songs—she needed to create her own.
Drawing inspiration from icons like India.Arie, Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Tori Kelly, Ariana Grande, and RAYE, Zariah channels soul, intention, and vocal precision into her work. Her sound is whimsical yet grounded, designed to make listeners feel relaxed and free while also inspired to live unapologetically. Her music explores themes of hope, resilience, joy, and the beauty that exists even in a chaotic world—reminding listeners that giving up is never the answer and that there is success in every step forward.
A formative moment in her journey came unexpectedly as a child, when she met India.Arie by chance at a Whole Foods in Oakland. When asked if she wanted to be a singer, Zariah nodded shyly—and never forgot the words that followed: “It’s hard work.” That brief exchange left a lasting imprint. Today, she strives to embody the same unshakable, undeniable presence that first drew her to music—artistry that is so powerful, it’s impossible to ignore.
Currently, Zariah is focused on refining her personal touch as an artist, leaning into the quirks and nuances that make her expression uniquely her own. Beyond music, she finds joy in dancing, acting, cosplaying, and karaoke—creative outlets that continue to shape her dynamic, expressive approach to performance.
